Seven and Eight!

Anikutty,

Okay....mama got lazy and busy. Hence a combined post for your 7th and 8th year. Now am drawing a blank when I try to think of your 7th year. So what do I do? Like any good mom  I turn to photos and FB posts for help!

The major thing in the 7th year was you agreeing to cut your long hair for a worthy cause. I must have noted in my previous birthday post how you adored your long hair and wanted to keep it long. I was growing my hair too to donate for cancer patients but was very disappointed to find out that they dont accept bleached hair. So ammamma agreed to donate hers on my behalf and in a heartbeat you wanted to donate too. It was a very bold decision for a 7 year old who adored her long hair. We were so proud of you! Thats when I knew for sure that you have a very kind heart my little princess. And the best part is you looked so cute in short hair. You looked like a rockstar!

School was exciting for you and you grew very close with Mrs.Silva and Emerson. Mrs.Silva had a special place in her heart for you and showered you with so much love and affection. Summer vacation was fun with mama and ammamma at home to take care of you guys. Swimming and TKD continued. I signed you up for cross country and you did well and enjoyed it too. Now and then you ran with me and I was pretty amazed at your stamina. You are growing up to be not just kind but also a very strong girl.

You continued at White Oaks for first grade and found a new friend Riyin. She has the best smile and can match up with your energy. Unfortunately we decided to move you back to Nativity after few months into first grade. We felt the school and teacher was not being able to provide you the platform where you could learn better as you were ahead of your peers and needed advanced learning. Till this day I believe it was the best decision we did as parents to move you back to Nativity as we could see a world of difference in you. You adjusted so well and very quickly blowing away all our concerns.

You were getting better at eating but has a great affinity towards chocolates and anything with chocolate. You got better at Kumon and continued on honor roll. You were still struggling to learn to ride your bike without the training wheels. You enjoy playing outdoors with Jessy and your brother. Neerav adores you and tries to copy everything you do ,much to your annoyance! He gets very upset with us if we scold you . The sibling squabbles were still there but the bonding is even deeper. We were always asking you to focus better and pay attention. You get carried away by anything and everything and then you run into an accident or get clumsy. We hope it gets better.

We celebrated your 7th birthday with a tie-dye party. Jessy, Angie, Sienna , Ammu chechi and Unni attended. Riyin was sick and couldn't make it. Emerson had a gymnastics event. Mama made a tie-dye cake and it came out well.

You are growing to be a very strong and kind girl and we love it!

Love,
Mama

8th year!

Wow I cant believe you are 8 already! What a year!

You grew so much this year - in all aspects. You are ammamma's sidekick, mama's little helper, still dada's girl and your brother's boss! You help out so much with the chores. You unload the dishwasher, you help cleanup, you help with breakfast in the morning. What would I do without you? You have become so organized (thanks to ammamma). You make your bed everyday and get ready for school all by yourself and even help your brother get ready. I am surprised at your discipline. Like every 8yr old you do slip up at times but mostly you are on your own and I dont have to worry about you.

At Kumon you were awarded trophies for being two year above grade level for math and reading and we were very proud of you. This year we decided to get you started with NSF spelling and math bees. We wanted it to be an additional learning resource more than a competition. You did exceedingly well in spelling even though you struggled with math. Also it was an eye opener for you to learn that there are so many smart kids out there.

Major thing this year was losing your teeth ,spending your summer vacation in India and your first Disney trip. It was such a joy to watch you wait for your teeth to fall off, the persistent wiggling of the loose tooth and the squeals when you find the money tooth fairy left under your pillow!!! Your brother was the perfect audience to all this excitement. Summer vacation took you both and ammamma to India. You guys had a blast out there with no parents,no rules and people waiting to spoil you. You had a fun filled 2 months with Lakshmi aunty,Aunty ammumma ,Resilyn maami and of course Vedha and Mantra! You would carry Mantra all the time and acted like her mommy. You loved giving them bath and feeding them. You were Resilyn maami's little helper.

Fall came and school resumed.Grace Todd is your bestie. You love school and Mrs.Basselgia. You started piano lessons again at school  and also joined chess and theatre clubs. We took you out of TKD lessons as it was getting too much to keep up with everything. But you started Indian classical dance lessons. You continued with Kumon and swimming. You are really good with swimming and is working on refining your strokes. Also major achievement this year is you learnt how to ride your bike without training wheels and you have had so much fun. We did several burke lake park ridings and you love it. We took a 5day Disney World trip and covered all the parks. You guys had a fun trip with ammamma and was excited to share everything with her. It was tiring but we covered all the major rides.

This year you wanted to celebrate your birthday going to a movie with your friends. Riyin,Sienna,Grace ,Ammu chechi and Unni joined us to watch Trolls. Later we came home with everyone and had pizza and icecream sandwiches. We also had a party with chechiamma and mama made a poodle cake for you. Yes, a cake shaped like a poodle (the dog!). It was a lot of work but it was well worth it to see that surprised look and extreme joy on your face.

You still give us a lot of hugs,I love yous, cards and little notes and I wish it stays the same. Dont grow so fast my ponnu....

Love,
Mama
